Francisco Manuel Anguas Rodriguez

Francisco Manuel Anguas Rodríguez was born in Seville, Spain, in 1990. After completing his Bachelor's degree at the Royal Conservatory of Music "Victoria Eugenia" in Granada, he began his master's degree at the Rostock University of Music and Drama with Prof. Henrik M. Schmidt, Torsten Schönfeld, and Prof. Jan-Frederick Behrend.

Following an invitation from marimba legend Keiko Abe, he studied at Toho University in Tokyo in 2015. During his studies, he was already principal percussionist in the Philharmonic Orchestra Vorpommern in 2016/2017 and principal timpanist in 2017/2018. He has gained professional experience as an orchestral musician in internationally renowned theatre companies and concert halls such as the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, the Symphoniker Hamburg, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and many others. He worked at the Bayreuth Festival from 2015 to 2019.

Francisco’s passion for historical performance has taken him as solo-timpanist with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin to international concert halls. As a chamber musician, he is always on the lookout for new timbres and instrumental combinations. At his concerts with the Ukrainian piano duo Chipak-Kuschnir, Ensemble Dimensions, or Elbtonal Percussion, Francisco fascinates his listeners with his naturalness and musicality.

He is a member and the Director of Production of the SONDER Ensemble that brings together artists from various fields in original performances.

Francisco has been a lecturer for percussion at the Rostock University of Music and Drama since April 2023.
