Freelance director and project manager Frauke Meyer was born in Dresden. She studied Musical Theatre Directing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. She went on to work at the San Francisco Opera and then Theater Basel, where she took her initial steps in production.

From 2005 - 2013 she was Scenic Director at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she helped stage various productions. At the same time, she started to work as a freelance director, e.g. for Theater Dortmund and the Winteroper Potsdam and was responsible for international productions in Montpellier, Istanbul or Luxembourg.

Since 2013 she has worked as a freelance director and project developer at opera houses and institutions such as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Royal Opera House, the Zamus: Cologne Early Music Festival, Theater Bonn, the Cölner Barockorchester, the ensemble musikFabrik, the music festival “bonn hoeren”, and was also involved in BTHVN2020.
