She led the Story Workshop in Mecklenburg’s confederation of protestant churches (Kirchenkreis Mecklenburg) from 2017 to 2020 and accompanied this project all over Germany, including the German Protestant Church Conference 2019 in Dortmund. She also completed a qualification as a bible storyteller in 2019.
She works freelance as a speech coach, rhetoric trainer and storyteller. Marit Fiedler works at various universities (Rostock and Greifswald) and universities of applied sciences (Wismar, Neubrandenburg, Güstrow) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as for education institutions, church institutions and with persons who use a large amount of speaking in their jobs. Her teaching is inspired by the vocal methods of Jurij Valiljev and Kristin Linklater and the movement work as part of the Talmi Method and the Feldenkrais Method.
Marit Fiedler studied Speech Science and Phonetics, as well as Modern Hebrew at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Prior to her studies, she was able to learn Modern Hebrew whilst working as a volunteer in Israel, something she consolidated during her degree studies. In her Diplom and doctoral theses, she compared the segmental and suprasegmental phonetics of Modern Hebrew and German. She received graduate funding from the State of Sachsen-Anhalt and the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for her work.
She is a member of the German Society for Speechscientists and Speechtraining (DGSS), and the Central German Association for Speech Science and Speech Training (MDVS). Together with a colleague from the University of Greifswald, she initiated the first SprewiCamp in Warnemünde in 2021 - a continuing professional development format for and by speech scientists and speech trainers.
