LAURA WITZLEBEN studied stage dance at the ArtEZ-Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem from 2004-2008. This was followed by engagements as a dancer with, among others, Dansateliers Rotterdam, Station Zuid Tilburg, RCD Compagnie Amsterdam. She has been a  soloist with the Ballet of the Staatstheater Darmstadt from 2011-2014. Afterwards she joined the Aura Dance Theatre in Lituania and Panta Rei Danseteatern in Oslo. In 2015 she was invited to the Choreography Competition NRW and the International Dance Festival at the Opera House in Budapest. In 2017 she won the International Solo/Duo Competition Cologne. Invitations were followed from the National Opera Belgrade, Uferstudios Berlin, Tanzfest Schweiz, Kunsthalle Zürich, Generale Oost Arnhem and Tanzfestival RheinMain in Cologne.

As a choreographer she has worked at the STL Theater Tallinn, Schauspiel Dortmund, Staatstheater Mainz and Volkstheater Rostock, among others. With the director Thorleifur Orn Arnarsson Laura Witzleben continuously created together. She has choreographed for his productions at the National Theater Oslo, Theater Basel, Theater Dortmund and at the Volksbühne Berlin. In the summer of 2020, she choreographed and danced for the K. Szábo Ensemble at the Orangerietheater in Cologne. At the Staatstheater Mainz she worked as part of the artistic team of Alexander Nerlich on the production Elektra/ Iphigenie in the season 2020/2021 as well as the production Kabale und Liebe in the season 2021/2022. In the season 2021/2022 she was engaged as a guest artist in the team of Lily Sykes at the Burgtheater Wien for the production Cyrano de Bergerac. At the Volkstheater Rostock she directed Fyodor Dostoyevsky's text THE DREAM OF A RIDICULOUS MAN in March 2022. For the dance piece WILDFANG, Laura Witzleben developed the concept and choreography and directed it. WILDFANG was funded by the Fonds Darstellende Künste and premiered at the Theater am Delphi in November 2021. WILDFANG was invited as a guest performance at the Volkstheater Rostock in October 2022 and will resume at the Theater im Delphi in December 2022. In a joint work with Jan Viethen and Julius Gilbert, the piece HORROR! was created, which premiered at Heimathafen Neukölln on August 25, 2022. HORROR! will be programmed again at Heimathafen Neukölln in spring 2023. In direction and choreography with Simon Köslich she is currently developing the piece ZWEISAMKEITEN at the interface of documentary theater and contemporary dance. ZWEISAMKEITEN will premiere at the Culterim Gallery Berlin on November 25, 2022.

Laura Witzleben will be part of the University of Music and Drama Rostock (hmt) from 2023. From the season 2023/2024 to 2026/2027 she will take over the position of the  house choreographer at the Volkstheater Rostock.
