Michael Barenboim, soloist and chamber musician on the violin and viola, founder and concertmaster of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, is professor at the Barenboim-Said Academy and was Dean for four years. Since his breakthrough with Schönberg’s violin concert under Pierre Boulez in 2011, he has established himself on the international stage, performing with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Solo recitals take him regularly to renowned concert halls and on concert tours all over the world. Chamber music plays a central role in his work, in particular since the founding of his West-Eastern Divan Ensemble in 2020. He performs e.g. at the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival and the Wiener Musikverein. Contemporary music by Widmann, Dutilleux and Ligeti play a major role in his work.
